Like it or not, Mehwish Hayat is still standing strong and proud in the face of incessant criticism. The actress who recently went through another bout of cyberbullying after she posted a behind-the-scenes video from the recent HUM Awards. Anyhow, Hayat bounced back by announcing that she has been appointed as a goodwill ambassador for girls’ rights by the Ministry of Human Rights.

The Load Wedding star took to Twitter on Thursday night to make the announcement. “This is something close to me & I look forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed. Let’s give girls the better future they deserve,” she said. Check it out.

The actress went on to say how honourable it was for her to speak for something she strongly feels about. “It is an honour for me to play a crucial role in helping girls get their rights. I wish to see a Pakistan where girls are given the opportunities to receive education,” she said.

She further reiterated how she felt girls can do wonders if provided the resources, and asked for support in this venture. “Support me in this mission because I believe that if girls are given their rights, they can change the world,” she said.

Interestingly, the timing of Hayat’s announcement fell just in accordance with the International Day of the Girl Child, which just happens to be celebrated on October 11. Let’s see how the actress paves the way for success for the girls in the country. Here’s hoping she addresses all the right issues that need to be voiced on every available platform.
