Pepsi Battle of the Bands season 2 jumped into knockout rounds with the top eight bands selected from all over the country during auditions. In the episode aired today, Atif Aslam and Shahi Hassan also joined judges’ panel alongside Fawad Khan and Meesha Shafi with former also singing his new track titled Yaad Dihari. Later, Hassan recalled his memories of judging the first Battle of the Bands in the year 2002.
In the Pepsi Battle of the Bands Episode 3, all bands were given an opportunity to sing their favorite songs according to the theme of the episode. All bands tried to give their best but some of them were exceptionally well while a couple of them were relatively low. The episode three ended up eliminating two bands.
Let’s start our review with the song which we liked the most.
Kashmir paid a soulful tribute to the recently passed guitar maestro Amir Zaki by singing his most famous number Mera Pyaar. They band did full justice to the song and received much praise from the judges. (They were our favorite too)
We have heard Sounds of Kolachi a lot and this was the reason that when Darvesh covered Allah Hi Deyga, we started trying comparing both the bands. Darvesh covered it well and we did not find any low in their performance but there had to be some improvisation, which we didn’t see. It was good performance though.
Next in line was the band called Badnaam. They were the best during auditions. All the judges loved them. The band from Lahore sang one of the most famous folk songs Kala Jora and totally rocked it.
Jasim and the Pindi Boys did not impress us much in auditions but they were more than good today when they covered Vital Signs’s Jabe Hum Huwe.
Aura was brilliant during auditions. We loved that Coldplay feel in their song but unfortunately, they were not as good as they were in their first performance. The band tried to improvise Dekha Na Tha by the legendary Alamgir but it did not work better. Same was the case with band from Karachi called Shajr. They tried singing Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Kisay Da Yaar in their own way but it did not impress us as well as the judges.
Next in Pepsi Battle of the Bands episode 3 was Madlock. When they walked on the stage, they made sure that their presence was felt. The band sang season one runner-up E.P’s Kahan Hai Tu and proved why they were preferred over other bands.
Last on stage was Roots. They sang Hadiqa Kiani’s Iss Baar Milo and we felt it could have been better. But nevertheless, it was a fine performance.
To be very true, some of the bands were exceptionally well, specifically Kashmir. We loved their version of Mera Pyaar. For us, they were the winner of episode three.
In the last part of the Pepsi Battle of the Bands episode 3, Aura, Shajar and Roots were put into danger zone and unfortunately, the former two had to leave the show. It was a short journey for them but they were thrilled to share the experience of journey with #PepsiBattleoftheBands.
