Urwa Hocane faced criticism from people on Twitter after she suggested Karachiites to not depend on government every time.
Taking to Twitter after heavy rainfall caused havoc in Karachi, Urwa urged Karachiites to come out of their homes to help each other instead of just blaming the government.

“No doubt the government didn’t care about the city but did we! time to stop complaining & do something on our own & fix atleast our own colony issues in Karachi! We can’t even stop throwing the garbage everywhere we like. Government doesn’t have a magic wand!” she wrote.

“It’s the people who have to work hand in hand with the government! How many of you can come up with a solution. Why don’t we start somewhere . Sab kuch government ka kaam nahi hota. Khud bhi kuch sochein, haath pey haath rakh k baithnay k ilawa!” she added.

Her tweets made people of Karachi angry and they told the actress to keep her ‘elite advice’ to herself.
PLEASE keep your “elite” opinions to yourself. If you get off your high horse and for once think about things rationally you’d understand that proper planning of the drainage systems is something the GOVERNMENT should be taking care of. The citizens don’t PLAN that.

Are you charging money from the govt to speak in their favour. Common civilians don’t have the resources nor the expertise to construct a whole new sewage/water drainage system. THIS IS THE GOVTS JOB WE PAY THEM TAXES, ITS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUILD BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE

Mm main problem is Govt is not supporting. Only Army and other Rescue forces are doing duty. There is no proper drainage and garbage system. We are responsible of the waste we throw in Canal’s but Government is not helping. It is a duty of Government. There is no system in Karachi

Phir hum government ko Tex kiyon pay karay jab sab khud Hi karna hai Minsteres Aish karay Humare texo se, Na wo Naliya saaf karay na roads achay banaye na Bijli ka nizam teek karay na Pani na ges hum to apnay ghero Mai hai Jo sarko per hai? Allah Hi poochay ga Insha’Allah

Logon ka kaam taxes dena hota hai, the civilians are not trained or equipped enough to make drainage systems. It’s the governments job, the least civilians can do is help the people in need with shelter, food and protection.

A few Twitter users also asked Urwa to come out on the streets of Karachi to help people around.
Chalo apnay ghr se jharo uthao or nally saaf Karo.Hammer uthao or logon ky ghr ko girao taky qabza khatam ho.Saman uthao or road or pul khud banaty jao. Apnay poray ilaqay se kachra khud uthao.. Gattr bhi jaky khud saaf Karo. Is this what u are saying. Tu phir govt hamien dydo..
