Yesterday marked 2 years since the release of Azaan Sami Khan’s debut album Main Tera, and the singer and music composer took this opportunity to unveil his plans for his second album, titled Azaan.

The Ik Lamha singer took to Instagram to make the announcement for his self-titled album and shared a picture with the cover of a lyric book showing, which revealed the name of the album, along with a heartfelt caption.

“With immense love and excitement, I’d like to announce my second Album ‘AZAAN’. Slated for later this year, InshAllah. There’s not much that I can disclose at the moment, but as a musician, this book contains within it the heart of this album, the songs. I play rough versions of these songs everyday whilst we work on them and can’t wait for you to listen to them,” he wrote.

“I am indebted by the love you gave my first album Main Tera which was announced two years ago today. Holding that love close to my heart I work on my second album. See you soon,” he concluded.

While Khan did not disclose any details in his post, he went live on Instagram a few hours later to answer questions related to the album from his fans and viewers. When asked why he decided to keep this album self-titled, Khan shared how his current direction feels more like himself.

“When I was growing up I saw many musicians do self-titled albums at different points in their career and I always wondered why. I wanted to do an album that was ‘me’, and there was less pressure, while the first album was basically everything in my life coming together. Now I am clear about what I want the album to be, I want it to be fun. I want to enjoy making it,” he shared.

He was also asked whether his music taste has changed as compared to the first album. “I don’t think the taste has changed, but the process has changed a bit. With the first album, I took a lot of pressure on me. The reason why I am excited about this one is I am doing whatever I feel like doing. I hope it works out,” he responded.

The release date and more details about the album are still under wraps, but keep watching this space for more updates.
