Yasir Nawaz said dramas that highlight societal issues don’t get much viewership which leads towards more content based on typical Saas-Bahu, love, and revenge stories.

Speaking to Something Haute, Yasir said producers and directors make content according to the taste buds of the Pakistani audience. “In our country, dramas that highlight sensitive issues don’t get much viewership as compared to those that portray typical stories,” he observed.

“See, our producers and directors make content following public demand as in the end they aim profits. If ARY is making any drama so they aim business, after all, they are paying 1000 employees, why would they make content out of public interest?” he said.

The actor gave the example of his ongoing drama serial ‘Bikhre Moti’ which didn’t gather much viewership despite spreading awareness on sexual assault, child marriage, family trauma and related issues.

“Bikhre Moti highlights sensitive issues of the society but you can see the difference in its viewership. That makes a huge difference and it is one of the reasons why most of the dramas are based on typical Saas-Bahu, love, and revenge stories,” he concluded.
