Pakistan’s most respected philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi was among first 2,000 donors at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplant (SIUT) who registered to donate their body organs after death. When he died last night in Karachi, his family donated both corneas of his eyes at SIUT according to his will.

According to the latest statement by SUIT,  both corneas have been successfully transplanted into two blind persons.

“The surgery was performed in the late afternoon by a team of surgeons of the department of ophthalmology at SIUT,” notifies a report by Dawn.com.

“The death of Edhi sahab has given vision to two most deserving persons and this is how he had wished his legacy to continue after death,” it adds.
