Osman Khalid Butt has always been one to extend his support for women in the industry and social issues. Hence, when Mehwish Hayat recently got heavily criticised on social media over her new item song Gangster Guriya, Butt was quick to defend her in the most fitting manner.

Apparently, the song has garnered a lot of aggressive reactions from the general public, who all deem it to be ‘immoral’ and ‘vulgar’. In fact, people have also resorted to using obscene language in the comments, which urged Butt to defend the actress.

“This is the language used by a ‘social media influencer’ for a contemporary actress while criticizing her performance in a dance number. He has the nerve to bring religion into the mix,” he said, while telling the user to watch his mouth first and then advocate religion.

Soon after being called out, the user deleted his tweets but Butt was quick to add screenshots!

Clearly he won Twitter that day, as many commended this act of his. While naturally, some also pointed out how they should be prepared for such a reaction. Considering Butt is also the creative head behind the song, he may have a personal connection to it. However, as mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time Butt has raised his voice in support of women.

Moreover, Butt also mentioned how freedom of speech is everyone’s right, but no one should resort to obscene language and verbal abuse on social media, no matter what.

“Please. It’s not too much to ask that you be civil in your criticism. No one is taking away your freedom of speech or your right to call out something you feel strongly against. But that doesn’t give you the right to tag someone and hurl obscenities & vicious abuse their way,” he added.

Let’s see if his words helped in toning down the hate towards Hayat, who has once again divided the internet with her presence.
