Much to everyone’s speculation, cricketer Shahid Afridi has denied all rumours about his retirement from T-20 cricket. It was back in February 2017 that Afridi had announced his retirement from international cricket, but the player has continued his association with various T20 leagues worldwide.
“I haven’t left cricket; I am still playing,” he said during a PSL press conference. “I don’t know who I will play for next year, but I will surely play, Insha’Allah,” he added.
Speaking of his performance in Multan Sultans and how the team failed to make a mark in this edition as well, Afridi held unfitting combination of players at fault. “Initially, the overall team selection was very good. But I missed [Nicholas] Pooran and [Steve] Smith, along with [Andre] Russell. The desired combination could not be cultivated,” he said.

He further commended foreign players for participating in the Pakistan-leg of PSL, highlighting how they will always be remembered for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
“Whenever international cricket will be fully revived in Pakistan, the credit will go to these foreign players who have come to our country. We salute them for touring Pakistan and appreciate their contribution,” he said.

“These PSL matches have proved that Pakistan is a safe country, the people here are peace-loving people. I am sure with security improving and these foreign players coming to Pakistan will send a very positive message to the world, and I hope more teams will come to Pakistan and our isolation will soon be over,” he added, hoping the peaceful demeanour will continue till the final
