Former English cricket great and now part of Quetta Gladiators squad in Pakistan Super League (PSL), Kevin Pietersen has suggested Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to announce Sarfaraz Ahmed as Pakistan’s captain for World Cup 2019.

“Pakistan is very lucky to have Sarfaraz as a captain. All the players like him, He has got very good cricket brain,” told Pietersen at the post match press conference in Sharjah. “The World Cup is only 12 months away so I think that it would be a very clever decision for PCB to say to Sarfraz to take pressure off him and say you are leading our team to the World Cup,” he added.

”If you replace your captain after a captain does well like Sarfraz does, that new person that comes in thinks that he can get replaced even before the next world cup. From my experience, you back your captain because if you back your captain your players feel safe too,” he continued.

Gladiators qualified for the finals twice but were unlucky on both occasions. When asked if he will be coming to Pakistan if his team qualify for the final stages once again, Pieterson announced the he will not be coming to Pakistan.
