Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan defended the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after his team’s win over Karachi Kings on Sunday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Shadab responded to criticism about PSL players underperforming at the international level.
He said:
“Your best local talent plays in the PSL. If someone isn’t even in the PSL, they’re considered lower in standard. So how is that fair?”
Shadab added that Pakistan as a nation is “too judgmental,” and urged for a change in mindset.
Islamabad United secured a dominant six-wicket win at the National Bank Cricket Stadium.
Chasing 129, they reached the target in 17.1 overs.
Shadab led from the front, scoring 47 off 40 balls.
Sahibzada Farhan added 30 off 18, while Azam Khan contributed 31 runs.
Earlier, Karachi Kings managed 128/7 in 20 overs. Tim Seifert top-scored with 30.
Shadab took 2/17, Imad Wasim claimed 1/17, and Naseem Shah finished with 2/29.
With this win, Islamabad United remain unbeaten in PSL 10. They top the points table with 8 points from 4 matches.
Their next game is against Multan Sultans on April 23.
