Karachi Kings’ journey in the PSL came to an end last night, making Islamabad United qualify for the Eliminator-2 against Peshawar Zalmi. While talking about his performance in a post-match press conference, captain Imad Wasim felt the team could’ve done better with their execution.

“We weren’t up to the mark. We lacked depth in batting and bowling alike. Muhammad Amir was unfortunate that he did not get many wickets but he is brilliant,” he said.

“We have an issue with depth bowling. During last few games, we conceded over 15 runs in the final overs, which were too much,” he further added, while mentioning how they were already twenty runs short of their target goal.

When asked how he felt the season was this year, Wasim thought it was somewhat up and down. “You never know one or two victories can take you to the final, but with the way United finished, it will build momentum for them,” he said, adding how the same could have happened for Kings.

Moreover, the turning point of the game was when Babar Azam dropped at least two catches, but Wasim felt it was all sheer dumb luck. “It happens in cricket, Babar has caught many good catches, but he was unlucky today even after giving his 100 percent. And I think Islamabad have played well too. Asif has hit good shots,” he said.

He also lauded fellow players on their performance, particularly Umar Khan, Muhammad Hasnain, and Musa Khan. “I think Umar Khan is the best emerging talent in Pakistan Super League this season. And of course, Muhammad Hasnain is good too and so does Musa Khan. I pray for him and I think he will serve Pakistan for long,” he said.

On a parting note, the player also took full responsibility for his performance in the series. “I think my performance was unfortunately not up to the mark this year. At the end, this is a learning experience, and not the end of the world. There’s a lot of cricket to be played in the future,” he said.
